The Forestry Commission has today (31 March) opened the second round of the Urban Tree Challenge Fund (UTCF) and is keen for local town and parish councils who meet the criteria to apply.
The scheme, which aims to plant 110,000 small trees in urban areas was originally developed as a result of £10m being allocated in the 2018 Autumn Budget. Round one applications were open to block bids which could be spread over multiple sites and due to its success the large tree allocation has been met.
The fund provides 50% standard costs of planting and establishment with the remaining costs met through match funding.
