This edition focusses on council law, policies and procedures, including a special feature by Figen Murray, mother of Martyn Hett who was tragically one of 22 people killed in the 2017 Manchester Arena terrorist attack. Figen has worked tirelessly over the past five years on the introduction of a new UK protect duty, Martyn’s Law, which has now been published as a draft legislation and will undergo scrutiny by the Home Affairs Select Committee before its formal introduction.
Also featured in the July edition is The Ben Kinsella Trust, the anti-knife crime charity, as well as a look at the amazing Knife Angel statue. You can read about the confusing legislation that surrounds grants to church owned property, learn about the process of setting up a new council and take a look at the summary of the results from the 2023 SLCC membership survey.
