The government has announced that it is going ahead with fundamental changes to the English planning system.
Writing in the Sunday Times, Housing Minister Robert Jenrick MP has said that radical reforms will see, amongst other things, land designated in three new categories covering growth, renewal or protection, he announced.
Development of land in the growth category will be ‘allowed automatically’ and the renewal category, which is expected to include brownfield sites, will benefit from permission in principle. The protected category will include designated green belt and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
