Sir Keir Starmer MP has visited Falmouth to discuss the impact that Covid-19 and the recession have had on tourism and manufacturing in the area. Falmouth Town Council (FTC) have been instrumental in leading the community response to the coronavirus crisis and produced a video – Visit Falmouth Safely – which had been seen by Sir Keir.
FTC were invited to participate in the panel discussion and Town Clerk, Mark Williams, was able to raise several issues, particularly the absence of government recognition of the important role town and parish councils have played in responding to the covid-19 pandemic, their efforts to boost the recovery and regeneration of towns in general and the inequity of business rates on community buildings.
