SLCC would like to remind you that you can now register for the Community Governance qualification for 2025.

The Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Community Governance is a prestigious professional qualification designed for all local council staff, councillors, and county officers. The programme builds upon the knowledge gained through the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) and explores how individuals and organisations collaborate and operate independently to make decisions that benefit local communities.

Awarded by De Montfort University (DMU), which holds a Silver rating under the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and backed by the esteemed reputation of DMU, there are many benefits to signing up to this course. As the only provider in England and Wales of sector-specific qualifications for local council clerks, SLCC continues to uphold its commitment to tailored, practical, and relevant learning. Each programme offers a unique blend of theoretical understanding and applied knowledge, matching directly with the needs of the sector.

The Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Community Governance takes two years to complete and the academic year runs from February to November. As a distance learning programme, you have the flexibility to study at home or at work. We will provide all necessary course materials and guidance to support your learning journey.
