Students must register for the CiLCA qualification separately. This is the cost of a training course; you will need to pay a separate fee for submitting your work for the qualification.
Please contact your County Association in the first instance, to find out the dates and cost of your County Association CiLCA training.
(Some County Association’s CiLCA training includes the introduction to CiLCA).
SLCC Virtual CiLCA Training:
Introduction to CiLCA: a one-hour session that explains what the qualification involves. The sessions are led by an experienced and well-qualified CiLCA trainer.
Members: £50 + VAT,
Non-members: £75 + VAT
Building your CiLCA Portfolio Course: The course comprises six 2-hour webinar sessions once a month. The aim is to help you to build your portfolio by understanding the evidence to be submitted for the CiLCA qualification. The sessions are led by an experienced and well-qualified CiLCA trainer who will answer all your questions.
Members: £250 + VAT
Non-Members: £300 + VAT
Mentoring: Virtual, one-to-one CiLCA mentoring sessions delivered by a CiLCA recognised trainer. Each session lasts 60 minutes and currently costs £25 + VAT, per session. To find out more contact Qualifications@slcc.co.uk.
If the learning outcome is referred for further work. The assessor provides feedback suggesting what you need to do. You re-submit your work as soon as it is ready. This is your first referral – and it is free of charge.
If your work is referred a second time, you cannot make another attempt on that unit until you have finished all five units, completed a referral form and pay a fee. Additional submissions are still marked.
Referral Fee: £12.50 per learning outcome

Extension requests must clearly state the reasons why you require the extension and must be emailed to [email protected] at least 6 weeks before your current end date.
Extensions are chargeable, and only one extension request can be made per student. Please note the maximum extension that can be issued is 3 months.
Any extension requests received after your end date will not be approved, you will need to re-apply for your qualification.
ILCA, FILCA and ILCA to CiLCA: £30 + VAT.
CiLCA: £50
Community Governance: Please refer to De Montfort University’s extension process
Candidates are permitted to be registered for qualification up to a maximum of three times. If they seek a fourth registration, they must put their case in writing by emailing [email protected] where the request will be discussed by the relevant qualification leadership team. Reasons must be exceptional.
This is where a candidate who has applied to register for a qualification changes their mind BEFORE they are registered with the awarding body and given access to relevant learning platform. They do this by emailing [email protected] without giving a reason and the full qualification fee is refunded. A cancelled application does not count as a registration.
Is where a student has been registered with the awarding body and has been given access to the relevant learning platform but has not started qualification.
They must give a reason in writing to [email protected] and is within three months of registering for qualification. Students are refunded 70% of the qualification fee.
ILCA, FILCA, ILCA to CiLCA and CiLCA: 70% refund.
If the student has made a start on the qualification, then NO refund is given.
Community Governance: Withdrawals follow the university’s process. Students are to contact the course leader or co-course leader in the first instance.
For CiLCA and Community Governance qualifications only
CiLCA deferrals is where a student decides to defer work on their portfolio because of extenuating circumstances. Please click here to view the CiLCA cancellation policy with the full deferral process.
The request must be made in writing to [email protected] giving the reasons.
If a deferral is accepted, there is no refund but there is an additional payment of £75 for re-opening EMMA and covers re-registration with the awarding body after the deferral.
Community Governance: Deferrals will follow the university’s procedures. Students are to contact the course leader or co-course leader in the first instance
For CiLCA and Community Governance qualifications only
Replacement certificates will reflect the legal name of the student at the time the qualification was awarded.
If you have changed your name since the original certificate was awarded, we are unable to amend any name changes after the date the qualification was awarded.
CiLCA
Replacement certificates* are requested by completing the replacement certificate form found here and send to the [email protected].
Replacement certificate fee: £15
*Those awarded their CiLCA by the awarding body AptEd are unable to request a replacement certificate as AptEd no longer exists as an awarding organisation.
Community Governance
Replacement certificates and their associated costs are made directly through the awarding university’s website listed below.
University of Gloucestershire
Under no circumstances will the University issue additional copies or duplicates to any applicant holding an original certificate, although a certified copy of the certificate may be requested instead.
