National Conference and AGM 2024

22 October 2024

SLCC would like to thank everyone who attended National Conference on 8 and 9 October. At what was another successful event, we welcomed over 190 delegates, showcased 38 exhibitor stands, and hosted 13 guests, including several international attendees.

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held the day before National Conference, at which Gina Lopes PSLCC, Clerk to Stoke Ferry Parish Council in Norfolk, was elected president for 2024/25. Gina has over 20 years’ experience working as a clerk and is a very active SLCC member both at branch and national level. Gina currently serves as Chair for the Norfolk Branch, as well as Mentoring Officer. She is also on SLCC’s Board of Directors having just been re-elected for a further term. Lance Allan FSLCC was elected President-Elect.

Our outgoing president, Malcolm Nicholson, has had a very busy year visiting SLCC branches and raising money for his two supported charities, the Alzheimer’s Society and the SLCC Educational Trust. The charity raffle at National Conference was a great success and in total £1,625.30 was raised for Malcolm’s charities, and split 50/50 between them.

Elections for SLCC Regional Directors took place in September. It was the most contested election we have ever had, and SLCC would like to congratulate the following successful candidates who all officially took their seats shortly after the AGM: Belina Boyer FSLCC, Adam Keppel-Green FSLCC, Debra Platt, Tracy Godden and Rachel Avery FSLCC. Congratulations also go to Gina Lopes PSLCC who was re-elected unopposed in the east region. A vacancy remains in Wales, a by-election will take place in 2025.
