Today, with regret, we wish a very fond farewell to Naomi Bibi FSLCC, who has been our Head of Member Services since October 2021.
In the last two years, she initiated and successfully led on a number of high-profile projects. She conducted a full review and restructure of our Advisory Service, recruiting new staff and implementing an improved operating model. She collaborated with the Digital Cabinet Office on a project supporting parish and town councils switching to .gov domains, resulting in key changes being made at central government level, with hugely positive results for the sector. She has supported the local Branches, visiting many of them and helping them improve their activity. She established the SLCC’s podcast series ‘What’s on the Agenda’; identified a gap in the market for Internal Audit training and devised (with practitioners) an online training programme. She instigated and launched ‘Local Council Clerk Week’, aimed at raising the profile of the profession, for which she was even awarded the IIMC’s President’s Award. She made substantial inroads working with high-street banks to improve the banking experience for parish and town councils, and also made significant contributions to the Civility and Respect Project, working with external stakeholders, legal experts, and practitioners to create and develop key governance documents for local councils to adopt. Most recently, she ensured that there will be national support for local councils in tackling the climate crisis at a local level, as SLCC lends its support to the ‘Place Based Initiative’.
Naomi says “I have enjoyed, so much, working with the amazingly inspiring membership that SLCC is lucky to have, and with all my brilliant co-workers in the SLCC team, as well as the many external colleagues I’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with. I am looking forward to new challenges elsewhere now, but I will miss all of you. You are all doing such incredible work for the sector – stay awesome!”
We are sorry, indeed, to see Naomi go but wish her all the very best with her next pursuits.
