Local Government Pay Claim 2024/25 Update – Pay Rates

24 October 2024

Following on from the news item yesterday Local Government Pay Claim 2024/25 Update – Agreement Reached.

We have received a number of queries regarding the pay rates for this and last year. The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) moved to a different calculation basis from this year, so while the totals are the same, the hourly rates are different. The basis of the calculation that is now to be used is divided by 52.143 (this being 365/7) then 37, rather than the 52/37 as previously the case.

The pay rates for last year, 2023/24 were correct and the new rates available here are correct going forward.

The rates shown are for the full range of SCP 2 to 62.

NALC has provided a copy of the Advice Note published for its members, which restates the new pay rates.

You can access it here

You will see in the note that NALC is advising employers to pay any increase due on back-salary if requested to do so by an ex-employee who has left the council since 1 April 2024.  Any member in that position is advised to contact their former employer to make such a request.
