We have been advised that the outcome of the ballot of members by the General Trade Union (GMB) on the final pay offer was:
For acceptance – 67%
For rejection – 33%
At the same time, the UNITE union have declared their vote as follows:
For acceptance – 22%
For rejection – 78%
UNISON have previously declared that their members voted to accept by 65% to 35%.
The pay offer will be considered by all three unions and next steps decided at their meeting on 1 November 2022. It should be noted that under the constitution of the National Joint Council (NJC) it is the majority of the unions and not all, that is needed for accepting pay offers.
However, it is important that you should not implement any pay increase until after the meeting on 1 November has taken place. We will issue further advice as soon as possible after that.
