17 March 2022SLCC’s Chief Executive Rob Smith has written to His Excellency Vadym Prystaiko, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, on behalf of members to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine – who have shown such bravery in defence of their country and way of life, in the face of the Russian invasion.
The letter shares SLCC’s admiration and respect for the brave public servants in Ukraine, who are using their reserves of resilience and courage to protect local people.
It explains how local councils are offering support where they can, by coordinating contributions to the relief work and publicly displaying their support for Ukraine, and speaks of the hope of members to forge links with cities, townships, and villages in Ukraine, when rebuilding democracy returns.
