Communications & Events Officer

Applications are invited for the newly created permanent post of Communications & Events Officer which will be available for an immediate start.

Job Purpose

The Communications & Events Officer will be responsible for managing the council’s public facing communications and delivering events in the community, including the weekly Thursday market.

Working Arrangements

Reporting to the Town Clerk, the post of Communications & Events Officer will be full-time, working 37 hours per week.

Working times will be flexible except for Thursdays when there is a 7.30am start to oversee the opening of the weekly market.

The job is based in the Town Hall, Market Place, Wetherby, LS22 6NE or at the council’s regular events, including the weekly Thursday market. Some events are held on evenings and at weekends.

There is also the option for hybrid working arrangements to facilitate working from home if appropriate.

Requirements

This is a varied role and the post-holder will need to be an excellent communicator, with outstanding verbal and written skills. They will also be a dynamic and creative thinker who can improvise when required and deal with the unexpected.

The successful candidate will be ready to take on the challenge of improving the council’s channels of communication in the Wetherby community.

Salary and Benefits

The Communications & Events Officer role will be paid at NJC Salary Point 18 (currently £27,344 per annum).

Annual leave is 22 days per year, plus bank holidays and two statutory days. This increases to 25 days per year after 5 years of service.

The postholder will be eligible for entry to the West Yorkshire Pension Scheme which attracts generous employer contributions.
