The government have issued a consultation paper on reintroducing fees for making a claim for Employment Tribunals and Employment Appeal Tribunals.
They say they have considered the impact of the Supreme Court’s judgement in 2017 which decided that the previous fees regime was unlawful. They are now proposing a one off fee of £55 to take a claim to an Employment Tribunal. It would be another £55 to make a claim further to an Employment Appeal Tribunal. It is estimated that the fees will bring in £1.5 million a year.
The consultation ‘Introducing Fees in the Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal‘ closes on 24 March.
