19 February 2024The government has announced changes in planning rules concerning the short-term lets of homes which will come into force in the summer. It states that “Under the reforms councils will be given greater power to control short-term lets by making them subject to the planning process. This will support local people in areas where high numbers of short-term lets are preventing them from finding housing they can afford to buy or to rent”.
In parallel to, and in support of the planning changes, the Department for Culture Media and Sport has introduced a new mandatory registration scheme for short-term lets.
