An exciting opportunity to take on the challenge of becoming clerk to England’s largest town council is now online.
Northampton Town Council has recently been created amid a major reorganisation of local authorities in Northamptonshire. Two new unitary authorities, North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council will commence operations in April 2021.
Northampton is a large, diverse community of some 130,000 residents and the town council will give representation to the communities of the current Borough of Northampton.
The council has taken a lead in promoting high standards of professionalism by placing in the terms and conditions the requirement that the town clerk undertake to continue their professional development with the SLCC and with the support of the council accrue the number of CPD points required annually to maintain a Fellow membership of the SLCC.
Rob Smith, SLCC Chief Executive commented ‘We welcome this new approach from the new and largest town council, linking its town clerk’s performance to membership of SLCC and its CPD scheme and encourage our members to follow Northampton’s lead as it promotes standards and professionalism in the sector’.
