12 December 2019Fantastic news just released by the Welsh government. In keeping with their commitment to having professionally qualified and well trained staff at town and community councils it has just announced that bursary funding of £15k is available for CiLCA training. This will enable over 40 new registrations and is aimed at councils with an annual budgeted income of up to £100k. These bursaries are limited in number and worth £350 each which will cover registration costs for the qualification. The scheme is open to any clerk or administrator at a qualifying council and is a necessary part of the criteria for any council wishing to adopt the General Power of Competence (GPC) which is a provision of the just published Local Government and Elections (Wales) Bill and will allow members to be prepared once legislation has been passed.
