Lawyers in Local Government (LLG), Association of Democratic Officers (ADSO) and Hertfordshire County Council will be in the High Court on 21 April in their bid to seek a court declaration which will allow local councils to continue to hold remote meetings after 6 May.
The potential legal costs will be substantial for LLG and ADSO, should they be successful the benefits will be reaped by all local councils across England. Consequently, they have set up a crowdfunding page to raise funds to help meet the financial cost of the legal action.
Deborah Evans, Chief Executive, LLG has said ‘A positive decision here is vital for the efficient running of every local authority and council, and delivers real tangible value in both the short and long term.’
Both LLG and ADSO would welcome any financial support offered by local councils.
