The government has announced that some planning measures originally introduced during the pandemic in England will now be made permanent.
These are:
- Allowing markets to be held by or on behalf of local councils for an unlimited amount of days, without the need for planning approval.
- Similarly, pubs, cafes and restaurants will now be able to install gazebos on their own land without planning permission.
Note: it is assumed that all references to ‘local councils’ includes town and parish councils, however, we are seeking clarification.
