SLCC members attending this month’s National Conference in Leicestershire have rated the two day event among the best ever held by SLCC. 95% of the recent record of 216 members attending the Conference (representing over 270 councils) have said the new event format was either “excellent” or “good” and nearly half of those who have been to previous conferences have said that 2019 was the best yet, whilst only 9% felt that other conferences had been better.
Former BBC Chief Political Correspondent, John Sergeant, was the most popular speaker with his personal reflections on the current national political scene and the final outcome of Brexit achieving a 96% satisfaction rating, 79% of which were “excellent”. Also among the most popular sessions were the presentations by SLCC Chief Executive Rob Smith, World Champion athlete Derek Redmond and SLCC members David Preston and Andy Curtis – all of whom scoring over 91% satisfaction.
In their feedback on the event members also provided a wealth of helpful comments about the sessions and how they might be improved as well as suggestions for new topics which could be covered in the future. These are now being analysed in detail by the conference team to help them ensure that the 2020 National Conference will be an even more relevant and useful learning and networking event.
