National Planning Advisor, Andrew Towlerton, reports that the Government has removed a paragraph (209a) from the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) that stressed the benefits of onshore oil and gas development, including “unconventional hydrocarbons” such as such hydraulic fracturing or “fracking”. This followed a High Court ruling earlier this year which found that a public consultation on the policy was flawed.
The revised NPPF can be found here.
