Shortly before the budget last week, the government announced that the national minimum wage/national living wage would be increased from April 2025 as follows:
- Aged 21 and over – from £11.44 to £12.21 per hour
- 18 – 20-year-olds – from £8.60 to £10.00 per hour
- Apprentices – from £6.40 to £7.55 per hour
The increase for 18 – 20-year-olds is the largest on record and is the first step towards a single rate for all adults.
