Chartham Parish Council wishes to recruit an experienced Parish Clerk who will also act as Cemetery Officer and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). The person appointed will manage the council services and take on a pivotal role in ensuring our council continues to move forward. This role is essential in ensuring the administration of the Council’s statutory functions and financial affairs’ are carried out effectively and that business continuity is maintained.
Chartham Parish Council has 11 councillors, and our precept for 2024/2025 stands at £147,955 plus concurrent funding and income from the Cemetery. It has a resident population of 4753 (2021 Census).
The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of the local government sector and demonstrate strong governance and financial management skills. You will need to be able to build a wide range of positive working relationships with councillors, staff and partner organisations. There is a part-time Deputy Clerk in post, and it is envisioned that some duties will be shared between the staff.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic motivated individual who is adaptable, organised and has excellent IT skills to join our small, but high performing team.
Salary: In line with NALC (LC2) pay scale, SCP 24 – SCP 28 (£33,024 – £36,648 pro rata) although this is negotiable depending on experience.
Hours: 30 hours per week (0.8 WTE) plus evening meetings as required
