The government is proposing further changes to permitted development rights in England.
Perhaps of particular interest to the sector is the proposed amendment to the existing permitted development right which allows local authorities (including local/parish councils) to undertake certain types of development. This change would make it clear that this right also extended to bodies undertaking the works on behalf of a local authority.
Other proposals include:
• A new permitted development right to support temporary recreational campsites
• Changes to the existing permitted development rights for solar equipment and a new permitted development right for solar canopies
Permitted development rights enable certain types of work to be undertaken without the need to apply for planning permission.
