9 January 2023In honour of the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, on Saturday 6 May, the government have announced that there will be an additional bank holiday on Monday 8 May. All employees shall be entitled to a holiday on the additional day.
In accordance with Green Book Part 3 Para 2.6 (unless a local agreement is in place), employees who are required to work on Monday 8 May 2023 should receive public holiday pay, plus time off with pay at a later date.
The Green Book Part 3 Para 2.6 reads as follows:
Employees required to work on a public or extra statutory holiday shall, in addition to the normal pay for that day, be paid at plain time rate for all hours worked within their normal working hours for that day. In addition, at a later date, time off with pay shall be allowed as follows:
- Time worked less than half the normal working hours on that day – Half Day
- Time worked more than half the normal working hours on that day – Full Day
