| Education Empowers a Council to Take the Right Action for Their Community to Combat Climate Change Parish, town and community councils are recognising the need to put in place a proper plan to tackle climate change in their community. Declaring an emergency is not enough. This must cover not only their own resources (e.g. village hall and streetlights) but also cover the householders/businesses/schools etc. in their community.

| Going Paperless to help your Council become Carbon Neutral The success of information technology (IT) has had an unintended consequence of making it too easy to consume vast quantities of paper. Research shows that the average offfice worker uses 4 boxes of paper per annum, that’s 20 reams or 10,000 sheets of paper. On average, every person in the UK consumes 4.5 trees a year. So, how can local councils harness IT and go paperless? Going Paperless to help your Council become Carbon Neutral |

| Governance for Driving Local Climate Action Although parish and town councils have an influential role for making climate action happen locally, they cannot do it alone! This workshop will introduce the role councils can play in developing key partnerships with stakeholders to drive local action on climate and turn words into action. The session will include examples of different kinds of successful partnership models and approaches for identifying and engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders and decision-makers. | Acting Locally on Climate Change: How Do We Actually Deliver on our Commitments? Many parish and town councils have agreed climate plans and policies. The challenge is to turn the plans into actions, tackling our own footprints and also enabling people in our communities to act and especially to save energy. This session will look at existing local practice, and at how councils can build skills and capacity to have a real and long-term impact. Acting Locally on Climate Change: |

| The Great Collaboration Toolkit The Great Collaboration Toolkit provides an innovative approach to helping people to see what’s being done to cut carbon emissions in their area, providing inspiration and advice and allowing people to log their own actions. It helps individuals, businesses, communities and local councils to learn from others, to understand some of the barriers, and to explore what else could be done in their area to take action together on the climate emergency.
