Don’t miss your opportunity to have a say on direct funding for town and parish councils (in England) by completing a short survey from the National Association of Local Councils (NALC).
The deadline for this important survey has now been extended to 23:45 on 15 June 2022.
The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete and the results will be used to lobby the government to prove why local councils need direct funding from central government for certain projects to benefit their communities.
NALC says, “Prior to the pandemic, NALC had lobbied the government to amend section 33 of the Local Government Act 2003 to enable local councils to be directly funded by central government agencies or departments (depending on the type of funding sought) on a range of different projects from high streets to parks. For years, local councils have either been refused funding by the government or told the best they could hope for was to partner with their principal authority to obtain funding as government can directly fund principal authorities.”
