The age of entitlement to the State Pension is currently set at age 66 for men and women (though that rises for those born after April 1960).
The Pensions Act 2014 set a statutory requirement to review the rules on the state pension age every six years to “help to ensure the costs of increasing longevity are shared fairly between the generations, and to provide greater clarity around how State Pension age will change in the future.”
An independent report has been commissioned and is now being undertaken by Baroness Neville-Rolfe DBE CMG. She has issued a call for evidence and wants to hear from relevant parties and members of the public, focusing on specific questions outlined in the call for evidence. The closing date is 25 April 2022.
You can view the Call for Evidence here.
Members may wish to share the review and the call for evidence with their council and communities.
