| Welcome to your Climate Change Summit |

| Save our Shropshire We will only conquer the Climate Emergency if people change their lifestyles. However, people have formed their habits and attitudes on travelling, heating, eating, and the countryside over tens of years. They are ingrained into their minds. People only change the way they live if they can see what is in it for them. People will always say ‘why?’ when asked to do something different. Education answers the question ‘why?’ We have 500,000 people in Shropshire, so we set up Save Our Shropshire to explain to them, through parish and town councils, the disastrous consequences of climate change. We show how each person contributes to it, why we all need to change, and how to make the changes. We will explain our objective of helping parish and town councils to be at the heart of helping their communities. As President Barack Obama said, ‘If you think education is expensive, wait until you see how much ignorance costs in the 21st century.’

The session will provide clerks with the basis for a plan and practical actions to encourage communities to change their lifestyles.
