Monday 11 October saw the launch of the eagerly awaited Financial Introduction to Local Council Administration (FILCA) qualification. The new Level 2 qualification is for all local council officers in England who have a financial element to their job role, not just Responsible Financial Officers (RFOs).
The online course unlocks a better understanding, particularly to those who are new to the sector, of how local authority accounting operates and covers all aspects of the financial year over five modules culminating in a final assessment worth eight Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.
Over 70 local council officers have now booked to undertake the interactive course which features pages of activities, questions, and explanations. Students have access to the course for 12 months and can study intensively over a few days or complete one module a month.

A similar course for colleagues in Wales will be available soon.
