15 September 2021On 15 September 2021, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a reshuffle of the Cabinet, replacing a number of high-profile ministers.
Michael Gove replaced Robert Jenrick as Secretary of State for Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
Jonathan Carr-West, Chief Executive of the LGIU, congratulated Mr Gove on his appointment and thanked Mr Jenrick for his work as Secretary of State, adding: “While we look forward to continuing to work closely with the new Communities Secretary and his team, we know it is essential that measures are urgently taken to fix local government funding and provide a sustainable framework moving forward.”
