Keswick TC has passed a historic and unanimous vote of no confidence against the Lake District National Park Authority following its decision to resurface a path to make it more accessible to cyclists. Local councillors, residents and campaigners have accused the park authority of putting commercial interests ahead of the needs of people who live and work in the community. Cllr Tony Lywood, who is also a board member of the park authority, said: “As someone said at the Keswick town council meeting, ‘This is the Lake District National Park not the Lake District Theme Park’.
