MESSAGE FROM OUR ‘CHAMPION’
It doesn’t seem like twelve months ago when I was making a pitch for the second practitioner’s conference. Well here we are again! You seem to like the format of the previous conferences, so after consulting with members at the National Conference and by email to last year’s attendees, we have come up with a programme, which we hope will entice you to attend the conference in Stoke in 2009.
I would encourage all those who previously attended to make a return visit and tell your colleagues what a worthwhile two days it is. Once again, it will mainly be in a workshop format with both internal and external presenters doing their best to inform and stimulate.
Duncan Wright, Town Clerk, Hatfield Town Council (South Yorkshire) & Practitioners’ ‘Champion’
REASONS FOR ATTENDING
Delegate fees We’ve contained the fees to the same level since our inaugural event in 2007. The ‘package’ within this 4* quality hotel includes 2 lunches, I dinner, all refreshments and overnight accommodation on the Friday. And the hotel boasts a gym, Jacuzzi, sauna and spa pool facilities!
Why is this conference different to all others? Well, because it’s virtually all run in ‘break-out’ groups where the emphasis is on discussion and understanding, rather than PowerPoint ‘overload’!
YOUR PROGRAMME – YOUR EVENT!
Your chosen programme Altogether, you’ve selected another 12 topics, of which the most popular
6 are repeated twice, to help you avoid ‘clashes’ with other topics which may also interest you. Whilst this event is likely to be of serious interest to clerks from medium-sized councils, it also has a widespread appeal because of the practical nature of the topics. Last year’ 99% of delegates rated this event as ‘very good/good’ – this year we aim for 100%!
Exhibitors Our supportive group of exhibitors will help to create that conference atmosphere! The SLCC Bookshop will also be there, with its wide range of relevant books at discount prices.
